Finaly the last day of classes are here. Today our group decided not to run our speech again because an "A-" is a good grade. I am a little disheartened though at the fact that the extra credit assignment was so poorly handled. Our group was told initially that because only two groups did it that we would both automatically get the credit. That is fine that the words were retracted today in class, however we were told that we did not need to send proof because there was a way to check all of the accumuated comments at the end of the year. It is fine that this assignment blew up in our faces, however that day when we spent an hour doing the the useless profile I could have been doing some work that actually was important. It is disappointing to end such a fun class on such a sour note. But just like all of the rest, it is finally done and I guess that is what really matters. Good job this semester group G7!

Today was the final day of the 1st round of speeches. I think that Ben - my group memeber- did an excellent job with delivery! He was one of the most animated, and his voice inflections varied from sentence to sentence. I am glad he was the deliverer because I have really bad stage- fright. I am always really nervous, and with these last few weeks being to stressful I think I would have done a lot worse for our group. I also think all of the members of the class who presented showed tremendous imporvement in their delivery. While I know we only did one speech this semester I think it was worth it to pick apart one specific speech because you probably will not find that with many classes.

Today's speeches were quite good. I found that everyone had made a lot of improvement and that everyone managed to avoid monotone voices. The only observation I made that was sort of negative was that some speakers were a little rushed. However, speaking into a camera, in front of the entire class, would be nerve-racking for anyone and it is understandable why this would have been the pattern. I thought Matt's speech was particularly good, and that his voice inflections were very diverse.

Things have been hectic lately because it is the end of the semester. I had Chipotle today and it made me sick...maybe it is a sign that I should not eat it 4 days a week! I was going to go to Haymakers tonight at Brew's with the guys lax team, but due to my stomach ache and headache I decided against it. So I think I will go to sleep instead. To learn more about the team I was going to go to Brews with click here.

This week in class we have been using the McGuffy's book to learn different ways to use our voices in our speeches. I always remember my mom complaining because my high school never used them to teach us how to talk. I beleive there are other books like there that teach grammar as well, and she complained that we didn't use those either. She is a firm beleiver in using "old fashioned" drills to teach kids how to tlak and write. I am sure she will be very relevied to hear that I cam finally using one of these types of books to learn. I think it is really funny to hear everyone in the class yelling in old english........

So there were three perspective students that sat in on our class today, and it got me thinking- why would you do that? I know it seems like you would get a lot of information out of one class and decide on the academics of the school, but really if you think about it, unless you have been in prior classes of the course you will have no idea what the professor is talking about. I feel like as a prospective you should spend more time sitting on the quad watching ppl go by and lsitening to convos in slayter to know if the school is right for you. Chances are most of the schools are at the same academis calaber that you are looking at so focus on other things besides class. And Scott Towler made a good point- shouldn't they be skipping class while they still can without getting penalized for it?
